I booted up ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN this morning expecting the usual Limveld chaos — and instead got a small, quiet gift from the developers: a fresh patch. It's not a content drop, it's not a new Nightlord, and no, your favorite weapon didn't suddenly get a buff. What it is, though, is a very targeted round of bug fixes, and honestly, some of these have been quietly ruining runs for a while now.

The update is live across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, and it lands as App Ver. 1.01.2 with Regulation Ver. 1.01.3. If you've been living under a rock in the Misty Forest, that means the developers are still actively tending to the game rather than letting it rot in the corner.

What Actually Got Fixed

Let me walk you through the list, because a couple of these are genuinely significant.

  • The bow damage exploit is dead. There was a bug where the Passive Effect "Add (Magic/Lightning/Holy) to Weapon," when applied to a Bow, pushed Physical attack power higher than it should have. The bow was quietly cheating the math, and now the math has caught up with it.

  • Weapon skill attributes were leaking. Some non-direct attacks from specific weapon skills were inflicting the weapon's attribute attack power and status ailment. That's the kind of thing that makes a fight feel unpredictable for reasons nobody can explain.

  • "Projectile Damage Drop-Off Reduced" weapons are back in the loot pool. If you had that Passive Effect, chests and felled enemies simply refused to hand your gear over. That's a rough one — you're grinding, you're looting, and the game is silently telling you no.

  • The Demon Merchant shows up again. During the Guardian's Remembrance Personal Objective "Find the Demon Merchant in Limveld," the merchant would fail to appear under certain conditions. A quest about finding someone is pretty hard to finish when that someone refuses to exist.

  • Libra, Creature of Night stopped looping. The boss would repeatedly perform certain actions, apparently stuck like a broken record.

  • Adel, Baron of Night is more stable. A crash-inducing instability during that fight has been addressed.

  • Wormface's grab is no longer a death sentence for your teammates. Previously, if a player was grabbed by Wormface, you couldn't rescue them even when they were near death. Now you can.

That last one, I'll be honest, is the fix I care about most. Losing a co-op partner to a grab you literally cannot answer is one of the most helpless feelings this game can produce.

The Version Numbers You Need to Know

Here's the practical part. If you're on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S, Regulation files can be downloaded by logging into the server. Check the lower right corner of your Title Screen — the version number displayed there should read as follows:

Item Version
App Ver. 1.01.2
Regulation Ver. 1.01.3

If the Regulation Ver. in that corner isn't 1.01.3, select LOGIN and apply the latest regulation before you jump into a run. And yes, online play requires you to apply this update — no sneaking into someone else's session on outdated files.

Once the update file finishes downloading, restart the game so the update actually applies. It sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how many people skip that step and then wonder why nothing changed.

A Word of Honest Caution

The developers included a note that I think deserves repeating, because it's the kind of transparency I appreciate: although this update includes bug fixes, they're aware that similar issues may still occur under some conditions, and they're continuing to work on resolving them.

In other words, don't expect perfection. This is a live game with a lot of moving parts, and the team is treating it like one.

What Comes Next

Further updates will be distributed in the future so players can continue to enjoy ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN more comfortably. That's the promise, and so far the track record backs it up.

So here's my plan: patch applied, regulation updated, game restarted. Limveld is calling, the Demon Merchant is finally where he's supposed to be, and my bow is no longer lying to me about its damage output. That's a good day.

See you out there. And if you get grabbed by Wormface — don't worry, your friends can actually save you now. 🎮
