Mastering the Revenant's Remembrance Quest in Elden Ring Nightreign
Discover the emotional journey of the haunting Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign, featuring compelling storylines, strategic battles, and powerful transformations.
Just completed the Revenant's remembrance quest in Elden Ring Nightreign and wow, what an emotional journey! For those who haven't tried it yet, the Revenant is this haunting doll character who's terrified of darkness and has amnesia about her past. Her storyline is honestly one of the most compelling in the game - by the end, she remembers everything and vows to destroy the Night. Pretty badass transformation for a scared little doll!

Getting Started with the Revenant
First things first, you need to unlock the Revenant as a playable character and win at least one expedition with her (or any other character, actually). After that, head to the Journal where you'll find Chapter 1 waiting for you along with the first remembrance.
Something important to note - after completing certain chapters, you'll need to defeat a Nightlord specifically as the Revenant to gain Memory Fragments that unlock new chapters. I learned this the hard way after winning expeditions with other characters and wondering why nothing was progressing! 🤦♀️
Chapter 1: Earning Trust
When you begin Chapter 1, you'll meet the Duchess who directs you to the Guardian. He's not immediately trusting of our doll friend (can you blame him?) and asks her to retrieve something important from a Nightlord.
Pro tip: If you're struggling to find NPCs, just open your map and follow the quest markers. Saved me so much time!
Start an expedition while in the remembrance, and you'll see an objective that needs completing. For Chapter 1, you need to defeat either Tricephalos or Darkdrift Knight - your choice! I went with Tricephalos because I find his attack patterns more predictable, but both are viable options.
After defeating your chosen Nightlord, you'll get the Blade of Night Fragment. Return this to the Guardian to complete the first remembrance and receive the Small Makeup Brush relic. It's actually quite powerful for early game!
Skipping Ahead to Chapter 5
After completing earlier chapters (which I won't spoil entirely), Chapter 5 gets really interesting. Begin this remembrance and speak with the Duchess again, who sends the Revenant to seek help from a witch regarding some contamination issue.
You'll meet the Recluse, who is seriously one of the most fascinating NPCs in the game. Sit on the bench near her to enter a memory sequence - this part gave me chills!
Proceed to a room with a doll sitting on a chair to trigger the Corrosion boss fight. This fight is WILD - enemies spawn but don't directly attack. Instead, they approach and explode, causing damage. They come in groups, so I found the best strategy is to focus on summoning help and constantly moving around until the boss is defeated.
After winning, interact with the doll to complete the remembrance and receive the Revenant's Chalice as a reward. This relic enhances your summons' durability by 25% - absolutely worth it for a summon-heavy build!
The Final Chapter: Confronting the Darkness
To unlock Chapter 7 (the final chapter), you must win an expedition by defeating any Nightlord. After getting the Memory Fragment, begin the remembrance and speak with the Recluse immediately. She asks you to close your eyes to fight the darkness within - very metaphorical, right?
Head back to the same room where you found the doll earlier, but this time you'll encounter the Contaminant boss. This fight is TOUGH! 😫 The boss has these area-of-effect attacks that can one-shot you if you're not careful. I died probably 10 times before figuring out that using the Revenant's summons strategically is key to victory here.
After defeating the Contaminant, you'll witness a cutscene revealing the doll's tragic past. I won't spoil it, but it actually made me tear up a little. Who knew I could get so attached to a virtual doll?
Once the cutscene ends, the Revenant's quest is complete! You'll receive the Old Portrait relic (which boosts damage against contaminated enemies by 15%) and a cosmetic called "Remembrance." Don't forget to equip it by visiting the mirror in the Roundtable Hold!
My Thoughts
The Revenant's quest line is easily one of the most rewarding both narratively and in terms of gameplay benefits. The way the developers wove her fear of darkness into both the story and mechanics was brilliant. And doesn't it make you wonder - aren't we all afraid of confronting our own inner darkness sometimes?
Have you completed any other character's remembrance quests in Elden Ring Nightreign? Which one hit you in the feels the most? I'm thinking of trying the Wraith next, but I've heard his quest is even more challenging! 🎮✨
